Be Still . . .

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 1:6 (NIV))
Do you have the hope to believe this passage, or is there something deeper, something stronger that you hold on to?
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
(Hebrews 11:1 (NIV))
Based on this passage and how it relates confidence in the fulfillment, I would safely say that this passage could be paraphrased something like the following.
I have faith that God is not through with me since Jesus has started working in my life!
This passage is something that each of us should remember when we feel like the world is getting the best of us. Have faith that God will see us through! When we struggle with things in our lives, have faith that God will see us through. When we face the enemy, have faith that God will see us through! I have come to the realization that life is beautiful, but it is also a constant struggle. The enemy does all within his power to steal, kill and destroy, but we have a God who has given us the ability to have confidence, to have faith, in His promises. I especially love the promise that He is not through with us!
I am confident that God is not through with me!

For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him?
His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?
(Isaiah 14:27 (NIV))
In other words, if God has set something in motion, then nothing will stop Him from seeing it through to completion!
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 1:6 (NIV))
If you have answered God’s call upon your life, then He has begun a good work. He has purposed you. He has called you, and according to His own Word, He will not turn His back on you. He will not fail to carry you through to completion.
Don’t you just love the promises of God?
I know that I do!
God’s Word confirms His promises. It verifies the truth that is itself. If God has promised, then God has started, and if God has started, He will complete what He has started.
I don’t know about you, but I look forward to the day when I will be complete in the eyes of God!

Be Still . . .

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 1:3-6 (NIV))
We should rejoice in the fact that none of us are completed in God’s sight. What God started in Genesis was a fore-taste of what He had planned.
Salvation through Jesus Christ, His Son, is a wonderful gift that none of us deserve. God did not plan on stopping with only saving us. He wants to perfect us in His sight. Every day that we live in this world is another day that we come closer to God’s image for us. We will not see perfection in this life, though, since this world has been turned over to the powers of the air. God is perfecting us and will complete this task, one by one, when we stand before Him.
We as believers, have a strong and mighty God who is in control, and who is working His ultimate plan. We must pray for each other and for those who are not yet in The Kingdom.
Let God work in you today to perfect you and to pray for others that He is perfecting.

Be Still . . .

They searched the Scriptures day by day to check up on Paul and Silas, to see if they were really telling the truth.
(Acts 17:11 (NLT))
I am sitting here with mixed emotions. I am amazed at what just transpired in my study and writing and yet, I am saddened by what I was given, for I was given the following question.
Are you living according to God’s Word or man’s?
I then went to my database of scripture verses and this one from Acts came up. The following verse also came up.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV))
Do we spend enough time studying God’s Word so that we can know when something is true? Do we earnestly search the Scriptures or do we simply rely on other people to tell us what God’s Word says?
We are each responsible for our own faith. We are each responsible for our own study. We are each responsible for our own relationship with God and our personal relationship with Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We cannot claim salvation based on what our parents did. We cannot claim salvation based on who our pastor is? We cannot claim salvation based on how much we give.
We can only claim salvation by professing that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. We can only claim salvation when we profess that Jesus Christ is Lord over our lives. We must reject the world that rejected Him!
Jesus is the Word made flesh. In order to fully know Him, we must fully know God’s Word. Can you have a relationship by proxy? Can you claim an intimacy with someone when you only listen to someone talk about them for an hour a week? It takes a commitment. It takes searching and studying the Scriptures. It takes time spent in prayer. It takes time spent reflecting upon God’s Word.
How can we claim to be followers of Jesus when far too many of us don’t even spend the time to get to know Him?
