“You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.”
(John 5:39-40 (NIV))

Where can you find eternal life?

There is only one answer, but far too many people have wrong answers. Many people will reply with multiple answers. Sadly, people who profess a faith in Jesus can and do get the answer wrong. They are more in tune with the world than they are with God’s Word and what it says. They are more in tune with the world than they are the one to whom the Scriptures point.

Do you believe the Bible?

Do you believe what it says to be the ultimate truth, and not just true?

Do you believe the Old Testament prophets who pointed to Jesus with what they were given to prophesy about?

John recognized this and wrote about it.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14 (NIV))

Do you believe the New Testament? Do you believe that Jesus was and is the Word made flesh?

Do you believe God’s Word? Do you believe Jesus?

Have you ever embraced perfection?

Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
(Proverbs 30:5 (NIV))

Have you ever held perfection?

Have you ever studied perfection?

Have you ever embraced perfection?

This is such an interesting point. It is one that I have read, but somehow I missed the implications of this passage until now.

When something is flawless, it is said to be perfect. God’s Word is flawless. It is perfect! We know God’s word as the Bible. I realize that there are numerous translations and that it is printed by man, but is not the vessel that is perfect. It is the message.

When we hold the Bible and when we study the Bible, as long as the translation is true to the original, then we are holding perfection. We are studying perfection. What is so profound is that God sent perfection to walk among us.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
(John 1:1-2 (NIV))

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14 (NIV))

God sent His Son, Jesus, who is the Word made flesh. Jesus was and is flawless. Jesus is perfection.

Does perfection live within you?

What can you do to spread the Word?

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
(Romans 1:16 (NIV))

Have you ever truly stopped to reflect on just how powerful words can be?

Words can bring encouragement. They can destroy. Words can bring great joy or great sadness. Words can do tremendous good or bring tremendous harm.

There is one Word that brings eternal life.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(John 1:1 (NIV))

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14 (NIV))

Consider the language that you speak. How many different words do you know? Do any of them carry the power to bring salvation? Only Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, can bring such a promise.

Every day, we speak hundreds, if not thousands of words. We must choose carefully what we say. We must speak the truth of the Word of God so that others may be brought to salvation, for only the Word can save.

Think about how powerful the Word of God has been in your life. What can you do to spread the Word?
