He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
(Micah 6:8 (NIV))

When you show someone something, it is assumed that you want them to remember what you show them.

What do you think of when you think of things that you have been shown? Perhaps it was learning to ride a bicycle. Do you remember being taught how to drive a car? Do you remember the countless times that you were shown what it means to be a good and honest person? Perhaps the most important and the hardest lesson to have been shown is that we are all sinners.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
(Romans 3:23 (NIV))

That is something that far too many people fail to accept as a truth in their lives even when we are shown this several times a day!

The Lord has shown everyone exactly what we are to do. It is a lesson that He wants all to learn. It is a lesson that he has shown us through His one and only Son, Jesus!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
(John 3:16-21 (NIV))

God requires that you believe in Jesus as His one and only Son. God requires that you hate the darkness and evil. God requires that you come into the truth and the light. God requires that you live by the truth and the light!

Do you live up to the Lord’s requirements?

Have you decided to walk humbly with your God?

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
(Micah 6:8 (NAS))

If it were only that simple!

We, as fallen humanity, cannot follow this simple truth without the world trying to distract us. All too often, it succeeds no matter what we do. Still, we must strive to keep these truths as the central focus of our lives.

It is made easier since Jesus came to suffer and die for our sins. Since His resurrection, we have had the Holy Spirit in the world to guide us and keep us in touch with God’s plan for our lives. As believers, we have the Holy Spirit within us. Even before we became believers, God, through His prevenient grace, worked through the Holy Spirit to bring us to Him. Now that the Holy Spirit is within us, we have an “internal, eternal” guide to listen to in order to help us fulfill the words from Micah.

But, we must desire to listen. The Holy Spirit is a “gentleman” and will not force us to do anything. He will guide us, but the decisions are ours alone. Every day is a new decision. Every minute of every hour of every day.

What is your decision?
