If God loves, how can we do any less?

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known. But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
(1 Corinthians 13:12-13 (NASB))

All of our understanding of the ways of God are nothing. We cannot fully comprehend His wisdom, majesty and grace with our limited ways of understanding. How can a car know what the engineers who designed it were thinking? How can a computer software know what the software developers were thinking and planning? How can we, as the beloved creation of God, fully comprehend what His plans are?

One day, we will be able to understand, but that day is not going to happen in this world as we know it. All that we can do is have faith, hope and love. Faith that God will see us through all that we must face. Hope for salvation and a better life to come. Love for those around us, for they too are creations of God, and are equally loved by God the Father. He loved us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die so that we could have salvation.

God does not just love you and I, He loves everyone!

If God loves, how can we do any less?

Following Jesus requires us to be deliberate!

Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.
(Hebrews 3:1 (NIV))

What do you think about?

When you fix your thoughts on something, you make a deliberate effort to think about that one thing. Following Jesus is a deliberate process. You cannot simply set out to do whatever you want to and claim that you are a follower of Jesus.

Deliberate effort!

In other words, you must choose Jesus at all times. You must constantly think about Jesus and His actions and His teachings. These are the actions and the teachings that we are to follow. We are to fix our thoughts on these actions and teachings. We are to fix our hearts as well as our thoughts. We are to focus. We are to make every effort. We are to be deliberate in our thoughts and our actions so that they reflect Jesus in all that we do.

Following Jesus requires us to be deliberate!

We cannot be nonchalant in our faith.

Something to think about at Christmas!

As God’s fellow workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.
(2 Corinthians 6:1 (NIV))

We all know people who say that they have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, but do not act accordingly.

The gift of grace and salvation that God granted us through His Son is not something to be taken lightly. A great sacrifice was paid for us so that we did not have to pay the debt that we rightfully owe. An attitude of gratitude should be what we reflect, and we should act accordingly. If our actions do not match our words, what does that say of the true person within? If someone is truly forgiven and repentant for their actions, then they outwardly show that gratitude in all that they do.

What do you show in your daily walk? Is it gratitude or do you show an attitude of conceit and self reliance?
