Do you know Jesus?

Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living

Who but God goes up to the heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in his fist? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is his name—and his son’s name? Tell me if you know!
(Proverbs 30:4 (NLT))

Who indeed can do all of these things?

There is only one God!

His Holy Name has been proclaimed all throughout history. He created history when He created the heavens and the earth. He has made history all throughout humanity’s sinful venture through this existence. He created man. He sent the flood to destroy sin. He saved Noah through the flood. He parted the waters as the Israelites left Egypt. He manifested His glory in the desert as a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day. He sent His only begotten Son.

Once again, we find God’s majestic plan of salvation and grace in the works long before it came to be. The writer of Proverbs knew that there would be a Son. The writer foretold of the ascension into heaven and of the return. Many, many years before the rest of the world would be allowed to know the Son, the Israelites knew that the Son of God would be coming. Yet, even in their knowledge, they did not recognize the Son when He came.

What has God told us that we do not recognize when it is right before our eyes?

Each of us think that we would have been able to discern the things that the Israelites missed. We tend to look back upon them as blind to the obvious, but I doubt that we are any better at discerning what is before us.

I have no doubt that the very God who holds the wind in His fist is still giving us insight into what He is doing. All we have to do is wait for the Lord and His Son, Jesus.

Do you know Jesus?
